YOUNG AFRICANS
Young Africans Sports Club known as Yanga is a Tanzanian football club based in Dar Es Salaam. Their home games are played at National Stadium.
YANGA founded in 1935 is the oldest football Club in Tanzania, boasting arguably the largest fan base in the region of approximately 35 million, and remains one of the few member owned football clubs in East Africa.
YANGA’s history is profound: the Club played a critical role in Tanzania’s independence struggle; formation of TANU the liberation party later to be merged and known as CCM; its first card carrying member was the late Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, the first President of Tanzania & Father of the Nation;
Mzee Karume, the first President of Zanzibar gifted the Club its premises as a token of appreciation to the Club; all its colors are represented in Nation’s flag; and many more distinguished traits that make YANGA unique.
Today’s YANGA has a Board of Trustees comprising of prominent personalities such as Mama Karume, the former First Lady of Zanzibar & founding President of Zanzibar’s wife; Capt. Mkuchika, Minister of Good Governance; Ambassador Ami Mpungwe, Tanzania’s first ambassador to South Africa etc. The Club is professionally managed with both a democratically elected Executive Committee which sets the direction of the Club, supported by a qualified management team handling the day to day operations.
All of the said have aided YANGA to consistently maintain top ranking domestically and winning coveted titles including the prestigious Tanzanian Football Premier League (24 times) more than any other team in the country.

Members: Estimated 35 million fan base all over the world. Over 13,000 subscription paying members in Tanzania and elsewhere. The club has over 80 branches in Tanzania.
