National College of Tourism, Dar es Salaam, REG/ANE/015, Government institution with full registration, Dar es Salaam, Full.National College of tourism is a Government institution which operates as a semi autonomous body managed by the Chief Executive Officer. The Permanent Secretary – Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism is responsible for the strategic management of the College.

To become a centre of excellence and deliver high quality training, research and consultancy in hospitality and tourism

Mission:
To improve service standards and enhance skills in the hospitality and tourism industry through training in order to meet customers’ expectations

Programs Offered

Currently, the College offers the following programmes:
1. NTA Level 5 : Technician Certificate
– Certificate in Front Office Operations
– Certificate in Accommodation Operations
– Certificate in Food & Beverage Services
– Certificate in Food Production
– Certificate in Pastry and Bakery
– Certificate in Tour Guiding Operations

2. NTA Level 6 : Ordinary Diploma
– Diploma in Travel and Tourism
– Diploma in Food & Beverage
– Diploma in Culinary Art
– Diploma in Rooms Division

3. Short Courses
– Short courses can be customized to suit individual establishment.

Admission and Applications

The entry requirement for Certificate Programmes is completion of Ordinary Certificate of Secondary Education
(Form IV) with at least five passes in any subjects or 3 passes plus industrial experiences of 2 yrs
– The applications fees is TShs. 20,000.- which is non refundable.
– Most recent passport-size photograph and photocopies of your certificates and transcripts.

NTA Level 5: Technician Certificate Programmes

Category A: Direct Entry
Applicants for direct admission to Certificate Programmes must have:
i. A Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with passes in five subjects, and who passed a qualifying test from the National College of Tourism.
ii. OR qualification of NTA Level 4

Category B: Equivalent qualifications
iii. A Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with passes in three subjects, of which one must be English plus working experience in a related field for at least two years.

NTA Level 6: Ordinary Diploma Programmes

Category A: Direct Entry
i. The Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) targets Form Six leavers – Advanced Certificate for Secondary Education with at least one (1) principal pass and one (1) subsidiary pass.
ii. OR those who already have NTA level 5 in the same discipline

Category B: Equivalent qualifications
iii. Certificate holders of Secondary Education with five credits and experience of five years in the hospitality / tourism industry.
