Mikocheni Nursing School, Dar es Salaam, REG/HAS/025, Private institution with full registration, Dar es Salaam, Provisional.The Mikocheni School of Nursing (MSN) is affiliated to the faculty of Nursing of Hubert Kairuki Memorial University (HKMU).The school is fully registered by the National Council of Technical Education (NACTE),and is currently at the level of accreditation candidacy. It offers two diploma programmes which are: Pre-Service Diploma in Nursing/Midwifery programme (NTA level 6), 3 years; NTA level 4-6, and the In-ServiceDiploma in Nursing Programme (1 year).
The Mikocheni School of Nursing aims to be a centre of national and international excellence in nursing research, education and practice development. The school is headed by the Principal who is the overall in charge of all academic and administrative issues of the school. Programs Offered
1. Ordinary Diploma in Nursing (NTA level 4-6) Pre-Service Programme:
The Ordinary Diploma Programme in Nursing (NTA Level 4) Pre-Service, is a programme that is meant to take students who are direct from school.
Entry requirements: Applicants who have a minimum of Certificate of Secondary Education Exanimation (CSEE) or its equivalent, with three passes in science subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics /Mathematics at grade D or above. A pass in English is an added advantage.
Duration of the programme: 3 years
2. Diploma Programme in Nursing (NTA level 6) In-Service Programme:
The Ordinary Diploma Programme in Nursing (NTA Level 6) In-Service, aims at educating nurses who have already undergone basic training in Nursing.
Entry requirements:
1. Applicants who have a minimum of Certificate of Secondary Education Exanimation (CSEE) or its equivalent, with passes in science subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics /Mathematics at grade D or above. A pass in Chemistry is an added advantage.
2. Candidates must hold a certificate in Nursing and Midwifery (Nurse B), licensed to practice as an enrolled Nurse and Midwife, with a working experience of at least two years in a reputable hospital.
