Karume Technical College, Zanzibar, REG/EOS/005, Government institution with full registration, Zanzibar, Full.It is parastatal organization under the Ministry of education and Vocational Training.It is entrusted with the responsibility of preserving, enhancing, transmitting and disseminating knowledge in science and techno logy by teaching, conducting reseach and consultancy in various field in the country.KIST was established by the Act no.2 of House of Representative of Zanzibar of 2009 of successor to Karume Technical Collage (KTC) and become operational in 3rd October 2009.In 2002 KTC the than KIST was full registered by NACTE(National Council for Technical Education) and has mandate to grant award on basic technical certificate (NTA level 4), technical certificate {NTA level 5}, and Ordinary Diploma {NTA level 6} in six engineering field: Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, Electronic & Telecommunication, Civil & Transportation and Computer.KIST maintains a system of collaboration, consultation and co-operation with parties within the country and outside whose functions relate to the application of science and technology for the development of the country.
